Transport Canada Minimum Requirements
Age:
16 years upon course completion
Medical Requirement:
A Category 1,3, or 4 aviation medical is required
An applicant shall have completed a course of not less than 25 hours of Recreational Pilot Permit flight training.
Dual Instructions:
15 hours flight time including not less than 2 hours of cross-country flight time
Solo Practice:
5 hours solo flight time
Ground School:
Ground School instruction is not a requirement for the recreational permit but is recommended.
Ground School at Stratford Air Services consists of three hour sessions once a week lasting fifteen weeks. It is conducted on a continuous basis so that the student may start at any time. Also, the ground school may be repeated as often as the student wishes.
- A ground school kit containing textbooks, charts and equipment is available at the office
- Successfully complete a flight test and obtain a minimum of 60% on a written exam
- A flight test with a Pilot Examiner must be completed at the end of your flight training
